November 22-23 - Heshvan 25
Shabbat will begin with candle lighting this Friday, November 22, at 4:52 p.m. Three stars will appear on Saturday, around 5:50 p.m., marking the end of Shabbat and time for Havdalah.

Our Shabbat Family Service will begin on Friday night at 8:00 p.m., with song and story. Our Saturday morning will begin with bagel breakfast at 9:15 a.m., followed by services at 9:45, lunch at 12:15 a.m., and an exploration of Psalms with Rabbi Sydni at 1:00.

Thank you to Rabbi Feivel Rubinstein for reading Torah and to Dr. Aubrey Lurie for reading Haftarah and sharing his Torah. Thank you to Bob and Deena Lachman for sponsoring our oneg and Kiddush lunch in memory of Samuel Lachman.

Our new Hebrew month of Kislev will begin with Rosh Hodesh, from Wednesday night, November 27, through Friday, November 29.

A Message From Rabbi Sydni

Rabbi Sydni and our President, Dave Ginsburg, will both be out of town, celebrating Thanksgiving with their families, in the coming week. Please excuse their absence from the office and reduced availability for communication. Please enjoy your holiday with gratitude to family, friends and loved ones!

From Thursday-Monday, March 19-23, 2020, Rabbi Sydni's previous congregation, Ohr Shalom Synagogue of San Diego, California, will be visiting us in Shreveport. While most of our visitors are comfortable staying in a hotel, some have inquired about home hospitality. Please contact Rabbi Sydni as soon as possible if you would be willing to offer home hospitality to one or two people for that weekend.

Some chevra kadisha rethinking is in the making. Please let Rabbi Sydni know if you would like to be part of the process.

Happy Birthday!
